Paper/ Unlocking EU foreign and security potential: Mitigation Measures by Sarah van Bentum and Gregor Walter-Drop

In this JOINT Report, Sarah van Bentum (Research Fellow at the Freie Universität Berlin – FUB) and Gregor Walter-Drop (Director of the Knowledge Exchange Lab – KEL) identify mitigation measures for EU policy-makers to work towards a better and more coherent EU Foreign and Security Policy in response to international crisis.
The paper identifies three categories of mitigation measures: institutional, functional and diplomatic-coalitional measures. Measures such as strategic delegation, selective engagement, Team Europe, multilateralisation and strategic partnerships bear the potential of reducing the negative impact of EUFSP.
