Brief/ Turkey in the Black Sea: Is a Balancing Act Still Possible? by Çiğdem Üstün

In this new JOINT Brief, Çiğdem Üstün, Associate Professor in the International Relations Department at Nişantaşı University and Secretary General of the Centre for Economics and Foreign Policy Studies (EDAM), discusses the latest questioning of Turkey’s alignment in its foreign policy. Turkey’s ability to keep diplomatic channels open and its willingness to work with regional actors and multilateral mechanisms show the potential for Turkey to contribute security from a broad perspective. And, the war in Ukraine reminds that Turkey has the potential to contribute to regional, European and global security through its distinct regional policies and the Montreux Convention.
